Terms of Service
Effective October 15, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Goodall, a research-discovery product operated by Level Platforms (“Level Platforms,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using Goodall, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the application.
1. The Service
Goodall provides a curated, gesture-driven feed of research summaries, an inline reader (“Et AI”), glossary assistance, and bookmarking tools. Content shown in the feed may include titles, author strings, abstracts, and interpretive summaries derived from publicly available scholarly sources and from locally seeded demonstration libraries.
Goodall is available to people age 16 or older who reside in the United States. Do not submit personal information or use the service if you do not meet these requirements.
The current service is free. Optional subscriptions are planned but are not currently offered. If subscriptions become available, the paid features, price, billing period, renewal terms, and cancellation method will be presented before purchase. Joining the waitlist does not authorize any charge.
Goodall is offered for personal, educational, and non-commercial research discovery. Features and availability may change as we improve the product.
2. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Goodall only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with academic integrity and respect for authors’ rights.
- Do not disrupt or overload the application or any systems it relies on. Nothing in these Terms restricts activity that applicable law permits and cannot be waived.
- Do not use Goodall to harass, deceive, or misrepresent the authorship or conclusions of scholarly work.
- Do not use automated bots, scrapers, or bulk-extraction tools against Goodall’s interface or APIs except as expressly permitted in writing by Level Platforms.
- Do not circumvent rate limits, access controls, or technical measures that protect the service or upstream academic repositories.
3. Academic Preprints & Data Scraping Limitations
Many papers surfaced by Goodall originate as preprints or open-access manuscripts (including sources such as arXiv and bioRxiv). Preprints are preliminary research communications; they are not peer-reviewed journal articles unless otherwise indicated by the venue metadata.
You may not use Goodall as a vehicle to systematically scrape, mirror, or redistribute full-text corpora from academic preprint servers beyond ordinary interactive use of the product. Bulk harvesting of abstracts, PDFs, or metadata through Goodall for resale, competitive indexing, or large-scale model training is prohibited without separate written authorization from Level Platforms and, where required, from the upstream repository.
When Goodall queries external academic APIs, those requests remain subject to each repository’s own terms, robots policies, and usage guidelines. You are responsible for complying with those third-party terms when you follow links out of Goodall to read full papers.
4. Local Storage & Caching Parameters
Goodall stores certain preferences and bookmarks in your browser’s LocalStorage on the device you use. This may include saved paper identifiers, onboarding dismissal state, and lightweight feed-related preferences.
LocalStorage data remains on your device until you clear site data, remove bookmarks in-product, or otherwise delete browser storage. When you are signed in to an eligible beta account, bookmark changes and selected research domains are sent to our server and stored with that email in Supabase. Clearing browser storage does not delete those cloud records.
Cached UI assets and temporary session state may be retained by your browser according to standard web caching behavior. Clearing site data resets local Goodall state. You can export or clear local records at /privacy/controls; cloud data requires a separate request.
5. Research Findings — No Professional Advice
Summaries, glossary definitions, Et AI chat responses, and key takeaways are discovery aids. Et AI currently provides scripted demonstration responses, not answers from an AI model. Live-paper summaries and takeaways are extracted from abstracts; highlighted glossary entries may be generic. Double-tap feedback is a local demonstration and does not publish to a research network. They are not a substitute for reading the underlying paper, consulting qualified experts, or conducting your own verification.
Preprint findings can be incomplete, contested, or later revised. You assume all risk arising from reliance on any summary, citation count, or conversational explanation presented in Goodall.
6. Intellectual Property
The Goodall product interface, original editorial copy, and Level Platforms branding are owned by Level Platforms or its licensors. Underlying paper titles, abstracts, and scholarly content remain the property of their respective authors and publishers and are presented under applicable open-access, preprint, or fair-use conventions.
Goodall’s interaction design lineage is acknowledged in-product; see the About Goodall panel for credit to Quanta and Mihir Arya.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Level Platforms and its directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or research opportunity, arising from your use of Goodall or from reliance on preprint or summary content.
Goodall is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, except where such disclaimers are prohibited by law.
Where liability cannot be excluded, Level Platforms’ aggregate liability for claims relating to Goodall shall not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100) or the amount you paid us (if any) for the service in the twelve months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.
8. Changes & Termination
We may update these Terms as the service changes and will identify revisions by their effective date. Where applicable law requires additional notice or agreement, a date change or continued use alone does not replace those requirements.
We may suspend or discontinue Goodall, or restrict access for violations of these Terms, with or without notice where reasonably necessary to protect the service or upstream providers.
Contact Level Platforms about these Terms at early-access@levelplatforms.com. Nothing in these Terms excludes consumer rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be waived.
